Inspiration - - - - Techniques - - - -Influences

I am a very inspired person and have always been so. As a child everything inspired me except school and church. In those places I was bored, felt so limited and compelled to escape! Making up rituals for my body and voice were common.

That was far better than any type of board game. As a child I drew image after image of bird people in every imaginable scenario. At this present time I am, once again working on a new series of Bird People! This has been great fun and really connects me with younger aspects of myself – playful!

I often work in the studio with my jazz musician husband. He plays the piano and stand up base. Sometimes there are a few musicians jamming. Bernard, the love of my life, and I are both into many kinds of music. We are particularly moved by what we call the ROOTS we hear in old time jazz and blues greats.

At times when I am painting with thread on my sewing machine, the sound of it becomes another instrument in the room, all is blending  in a oneness that expresses

its-self in my visual creations. At some future time we will create a video of our process in the studio together. There will be sound and movement, ah, you will get to experience our creation process!

Some of the music that I play on the sound system that has been vitally important to me in my creative process is: Rubin Blades, Red Garland with Paul Chambers and Art Taylor, Ben Monder, Diva Premal, Ecova, Nina Simone, Etta James and Richie Havens.
